When technicians dream, it often happens that their dream is partly a big idea and partly a logical consequence of rational steps. The project SSK of "Historische Feinmechanik Beck" in Pliezhausen is a good example.

As a collector of classic cars - especially Mercedes vehicles- while restoring and assembling a 630 Roadster, Rolf Beck thought of crowning his collection by building a masterpiece like the SSK. The idea was obvious because the Mercedes 630, originally built  from 1926 to 1929, is a precursor of the famous sports-model SSK.

Out of this project originated the company´s concept to use newly-made components for existing classic cars. Rolf Beck, a master engraver, already had the skills and technical know-how which are required to build a car. He is the head of "Kocher + Beck", an international market leader  for the production and supply of rotary die cutting tools. This job demands the highest precison in an industry where a one and a half metre wide, two ton cylinder has to run to within a thousandth of a millimetre TIR.

Accustomed to this precision, HFB constructs and manufactures spare parts up to full component assemblies  for pre-war Mercedes Benz types S - SS - SSK and 630 with maximum precision, high-grade materials and integrating the most advanced technologies.
